Do Mezzanine Floor Kits Require Building Regulations Approval?
All mezzanine floor structures require building regulations approval, covering fire protection, means of escape, staircase location and emergency lighting. When Does A Mezzanine Floor Need To Be Fire Rated?
Your mezzanine floor will need to be fire rated if it exceeds 20m in any direction, covers more than 400m², is greater than 50% of the existing floor area, or if more than three people will work on it simultaneously. Your local authority or accredited surveyor can advise on the specific fire protection requirements for your project.
