R W Crawford Agricultural Machinery was founded by Bob Crawford in October 1980, buying and selling used machinery. Now a part of the successful AGCO franchise network with a Head Office in Essex, Crawfords needed additional space for their expanding business. A brand-new showroom and service department has been recently purpose-built nearby in the village of Writtle. BiGDUG, in partnership with Crawford’s parts supplier Sparex Limited our agricultural market partner, were invited to provide a tailored solution for the material stores to handle a wide variety of agricultural machinery spares.
Following a detailed brief from the customer and a site survey during the construction phase, BiGDUG’s Business Services team designed and developed an adaptable solution using their BiG340 and Mecalux Longspan shelving systems. The versatility, ease of adjustment and strength of these systems were critical to providing Crawfords with efficient use of their available space.
In particular, the Longspan shelving was configured in a back-to-back layout and included full height dividers to hold tractor windscreens, something that has previously proven to be a difficult product to store. Adjustable shelving was combined with parts bins to hold a wide variety of spares and to allow individual pick locations for over 2000 SKU’s.
The whole project, incorporating 92 linear metres of shelving was delivered and installed by BiGDUG in just 4 days, ensuring Crawfords could quickly relocate their stock without affecting customer service. Now fully up and running, Crawfords new showroom and service centre is proving to be a great success with customers and a model blueprint for other agricultural machinery dealers looking to improve their equipment * parts storage.
Hairware is the UK retailer and wholesaler of Revlon, Natural Collection, and California collection wigs. Storage of large number of boxed products was needed in a restricted space, the solution had to look good as it was to be installed in a refurbished building that was a show case for the company
Mobile storage, all steel shelving on mobile bases. The customer had used a mobile storage system at their previous premises so it was a solution that was easily excepted. Our advantage was we came up with a good looking design and product, we were also able to work within the customer's criteria, the site was a building site for a long period and we held off installing until the site was complete, the job was started and finished within four working days. We were able to be flexible with a constantly changing proposed installation date holding the stock of the mobile until the client was ready.
We also unitised the shelving into a dispatch area, this racking matches what’s on the mobile but is static, this gives continuity of look as we were using the same system in two different applications and two adjoining areas Storage of a large number of boxed products in a restricted space, solution had to look good as it was to be installed in a refurbished building that was a showcase for the company.
We were looking for a compact solution in order to accommodate our office and warehouse into a new space that is slightly smaller than our current set up. BiGDUG came out and surveyed the space and came up with a solution that would actually provide more storage and would perfectly accommodate our stock. The service from Bigdug was fantastic from start to finish and we were kept informed throughout the project. Installation was very quick and organised with the fitters installing a five day project in three days by working from 7.30am to 7.30 pm to get everything fitted in the quickest time possible. I would definitely recommend and use BiGDUG again.
