Gloucester Rugby stars in BiGDUG’s advent calendar and cards for Ed Slater fundraiser

23 rugby players from Gloucester Rugby and Gloucester Hartpury have joined Ed Slater by starring in our BiGGEST advent calendar, adorning the front of BiGDUG’s huge office building in Gloucester. Now in its fourth year, the calendar has previously been displayed with various Christmas animations each day throughout December as a new door is opened. Not only is it a huge hit with local residents, but hundreds of social posts each festive season champion its appearance.

This year, however, the BiGDUG office advent calendar showcases a different array of pictures, by promoting the images of Gloucester Rugby players, all of whom can be seen enjoying different festive activities including decorating a Christmas tree, playing snowball fights, tinsel tug-of-war, and much more. Finally, Ed Slater himself appears as Father Christmas!

In addition to the huge advent calendar, all 24 images have been turned into Christmas cards too, and have been made available for sale to raise money for the 4ED campaign. The cards are sold in packs of 48 and each card comes with the player’s autograph inside.

Ed Slater joined Gloucester Rugby from Leicester Tigers in 2017 but has since been forced to retire following a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) earlier this year. Both Ed and his family have been receiving a flood of support since his diagnosis, including this most recent fundraiser from main Gloucester Rugby partners BiGDUG.

All proceeds from the sale of the cards, plus the delivery cost, will be donated to the fundraiser by BiGDUG, with every penny raised going to support the Slater family. Cards can be purchased from HERE.
