Guide to Castor Types
Cast Iron Long lasting hard wearing and able to withstand high temperatures (with a suitable bracket). But are noisy and can cause wear to flooring
Solid Nylon Less load capacity than cast iron but are lighter in weight and less damaging to flooring
Rubber Quiet smooth-running and suitable for almost all flooring. Can be used with metal or plastic cores. But less load capacity than other tyre types wear quicker and benefit from regular use to prevent distortion
Elasticated Rubber Resilient shock-absorbing and non-marking. Higher load capacity and less prone to distortion than standard rubber
Polyurethane Longer lasting than rubber and generally easier for manual handling. More suitable for heavier loads
Polyurethane/Nylon High load capacity floor-protecting and low rolling resistance. Suitable for multi-use applications
Polyurethane Tyre with Cast Core Very high load capacity. Combines polyurethane-wheel manoeuvrability with solid metal core.
