Who’s Who at BiGDUG?

We’re a friendly bunch at BiGDUG and people enjoy the personal difference of doing business with us. Here’s a brief intro to who we are:

Doug – Managing Director
Yes this is where the name of the company emanated, BiGDUG himself! A giant of a man with a 6ft 4 stature and knowledge of shelving that is just as colossal. Has brought high quality low cost shelving to the UK public and now doesn’t do a lot else bar a few rounds of golf.

Jon – Director
About half the size of Doug but loves shelving just as much. Jon works heavily on sourcing products and handling stock re-ordering to make sure we can always sell what we list. In his spare time he can be found posing next to shelving in the majority of website pictures adding that bit of sell appeal with his big, friendly, trustworthy smile.

Mike – Business Development Manager A relatively new recruit to the BiGDUG ranks. Has over 15 years experience in the market and has the duties of taking us into new product lines and satisfying a wider audience. His outer appearance gives that rock hard impression but it’s all a bluff.

Rachel – Marketing Manager
Started up the company alongside Doug and Jon and after a series of multi-tasking roles during the early years has found her home in marketing. Primed with the role of gaining BiGDUG as much exposure as possible, so if you have seen us in a publication or have a copy of our catalogue, it is likely to be as a result of Rachel. A respectable tennis player in her day winning several local titles before the lure of BiGDUG became too much.

Mark H – IT Manager
Created BiGDUG’s first website and because the work was so good was poached from his own company to work full time for us. Keeps everything up and running in the office and solves computer problems in an instant. Words such as html bring a smile to his face and he is our resident expert for IT solutions.

Mark B – Customer Services Manager
The eyes and ears of the business, monitors all sales orders and customer calls as well as maintaining an eye on stock levels. When not talking about his beloved Bolton he can be found munching on a Lancashire pie. Energised by multiple cups of tea throughout the day to ensure all orders are processed and queries are dealt with.

Lucy – Marketing Executive
Joined BiGDUG shortly after graduating and after a lengthy stint in customer services has now become embedded in the marketing department. Lucy works closely with the customer and non-customer database, sending out targeted offers and catalogues to those requesting one.

Lloyd – Marketing Executive
Similar story to Lucy in that shortly after graduation found residence in the south west and joined BiGDUG. Gained his grounding in customer services and has now joined the marketing team. Works day to day on the sourcing of new products and guaranteeing our prices remain competitive. Lloyd is a football fanatic who loves all things Tottenham but don’t hold this against him though.

James – Customer Service Advisor
If you need advice or a quote, chances are James will be the man you speak to. James handles the majority of calls including sales queries, conducting returns or chasing orders. James is well known for his smooth talking and some days spends more time chatting up rather than up-selling. Room on his phone for new numbers is quickly running out which could spell the end for BiGDUG’s ‘ladies man’.

Lindsey – Customer Service Advisor
Lindsey is our remaining piece in the customer service jigsaw. Works closely with Mark and James to offer advice, take and process sales orders and help in anyway possible.

Wendy – Accounts
Wendy is one of our two number crunchers in the company. Never misses a trick and doesn’t rest until every penny has been accounted for. Wendy is one of the more responsible and well behaved members of the office who keeps the boisterous ones in order.

Edith – Accounts
Edith works closely alongside Wendy in paying the bills and reconciling all orders. Can sniff a crumb of cake from a 100m away and enjoys having a gossip whilst snacking on everything in sight. A chirpy figure in the office who is still holding the plaque for being the company’s worst car parker.

Graham – Despatch Manager
Graham determines how all shelving orders are sent out, selecting the right courier for the job. He also ensures deliveries reach the customer in the quickest time possible. Graham is proud to be the wise head among the warehouse youngsters and everything to him is ‘fantastic’.

Richard – Warehouse Manager
Rich looks after the warehouse and all orders that get despatched. He tends to spend more time delegating or on the phone to the office rather than actually picking but gets the job done. His bald appearance he blames on the stress involved with the job but we just put it down to bad luck. Loves forklift trucks, rugby and most of all talking about both in his local watering hole.
